Delicious Apples

Another addition to the KitchenArt series. This watercolor painting is by far my favourite project to date. I think I’m finally getting the feel or (eye) for creating depth and realism. The apples were fun to work on. Many layers of alizarin crimson mixed with Payne’s grey brushed on lightly; the layering technique. One thing I learned was not to add too much dark paint to make an area dark, it is layer upon layer of light amounts of the paint mixture that slowly darkens and creates the shadow. This was my first attempt with water droplets as well. Will keep working on those water droplets for future projects.  Apples Cropped

  1. You really have caught the sense of the depth of the intended apple. You are not only improving but they are so real now.
