Leaves

After the cherry tomatoes, I started a fixation on leaves. I just sketched, painted, erased, started over, and over several different sizes, shapes, colours. I wanted to understand how to develop the colour values and shades to have a proper representation of the real thing. I’ve lost track on how many attempts and frustrations. I spent about 3 weeks of my art classes just sketching and shading in pencil. I think I was driving Michael crazy, all I wanted to do was leaves. But, after all that work, I think I’m getting the hang of leaves. They’re not perfect, but I’m getting there, at least enough that I’m comfortable with sharing my work.
